The Arndale Centre is a mid 1970s shopping centre which was nearly destroyed in the IRA bombing of Manchester in 1996. Since then it has undergone a major rebuilt and is somewhat better, but this said, the majority of the best shops in Manchester is not found in the Arndale but in the surrounding streets.
